Kobayashi, Tetsuya; Chishiro, Etsuji; Anami, Shozo*; Yamaguchi, Seiya*; Michizono, Shinichiro*

Proceedings of 1st Annual Meeting of Particle Accelerator Society of Japan and 29th Linear Accelerator Meeting in Japan, p.320 - 322, 2004/08

J-PARC (Japan Proton Accelerator Complex) linac, which is 300 m long, consists of 324 MHz accelerating section of the upstream and 972 MHz section (as future plan) of the downstream. In the klystron gallery, totally about 60 RF source control stations will stand for the klystrons and solid-state amplifiers. The error of the accelerating field must be within $$pm$$ 1 degree in phase and $$pm$$ 1% in amplitude. Thus, the high phase stability is required to the RF reference for all of the low-level RF control systems and the beam monitor systems. This paper presents a final design and the summary of the performance evaluation of the RF reference distribution system including the timing control signal distribution for this linac.

Characteristics of low level RF system for DTL1 beam commissioning of J-PARC linac

Kobayashi, Tetsuya; Suzuki, Hiroyuki*; Anami, Shozo*; Yamaguchi, Seiya*; Kawamura, Masato*; Fukui, Yuji*; Kadokura, Eiichi*; Kamikubota, Norihiko*; Takagi, Makoto*; Yoshida, Susumu*; et al.

Proceedings of 1st Annual Meeting of Particle Accelerator Society of Japan and 29th Linear Accelerator Meeting in Japan, p.314 - 316, 2004/08

The beam study of the low-energy front of J-PARC linac has been in progress in the KEK site. Last year, DTL1 (the first tank of three DTL's) was installed in addition to RFQ and the Medium Energy Beam Transport line, and the beam commissioning up to 20MeV has been performed successfully. In this paper, the low level RF (LLRF) System for this beam test is summarized and the performance of the RF feed back control system and monitor system of the phase and amplitude of the accelerating fields (324 MHz) is presented. It was found that the feed back system for Bunchers is also necessary to stabilize and to compensate for the beam induced fields.

Development of the trigger management device for the waveform record device

Sakaki, Hironao; Ito, Yuichi*; Kato, Yuko*; Miyamoto, Koji*; Kawamura, Naoki*; Nakamura, Takeshi*

Proceedings of 1st Annual Meeting of Particle Accelerator Society of Japan and 29th Linear Accelerator Meeting in Japan, p.549 - 551, 2004/08

We developed the pulse wave form recorder with the flight recorder function, last year. The recorders are scheduled to be used for the beam status monitor system in J-PARC. If the pulse number between each recorder in the system has not synchronized, each waveform data can't match in the analysis software. As a result, we'll lose the time for the analysis. In this report, the design of the device that conform to all pulse number of each recorder is described.

Suganuma, Kazuaki; Anami, Shozo*; Chishiro, Etsuji; Kusano, Joichi; Ouchi, Nobuo; Yamaguchi, Seiya*

Proceedings of 1st Annual Meeting of Particle Accelerator Society of Japan and 29th Linear Accelerator Meeting in Japan, p.248 - 250, 2004/08

Consideration have been given to the airtight and fireproofing for floor openings in J-PARC Linac building where cables, waveguides, and coaxial waveguides will penetrate. It was decided to adopt the fireploof block method for fireproofing, and to use a two-component liquid sealant for airtight. From measurement of leak rate for the proposed method for airtight, it was shown that the methods has enough margin compared with acceptable leak rate.

Summary of 3GeVRCS control system

Takahashi, Hiroki; Sakaki, Hironao; Sako, Hiroyuki; Yoshikawa, Hiroshi; Kato, Yuko*; Sugimoto, Makoto*; Kawase, Masato*

Proceedings of 1st Annual Meeting of Particle Accelerator Society of Japan and 29th Linear Accelerator Meeting in Japan, p.233 - 235, 2004/08

3GeVRCS send the beam of a different parameter to both the institutions of MLF and 50GeVMR. Therefore, 3GeVRCS Control System is required to supervise by distinguishing the beam for every institution correctly. Moreover, since a parameter change is made during continuation operation, without suspending an accelerator, it is required that the beam loss by operation should be reduced as much as possible. This report shows the examination and design situation of 3GeVRCS control system that aim at these realizations.

Optimization of the flattop acceleration voltage for the JAERI AVF cyclotron

Miyawaki, Nobumasa; Fukuda, Mitsuhiro; Kurashima, Satoshi; Okumura, Susumu; Nara, Takayuki; Agematsu, Takashi; Ishibori, Ikuo; Yoshida, Kenichi; Kashiwagi, Hirotsugu; Yokota, Wataru; et al.

Proceedings of 1st Annual Meeting of Particle Accelerator Society of Japan and 29th Linear Accelerator Meeting in Japan, p.411 - 413, 2004/08

The flat-top acceleration system with the fifth-harmonic of the fundamental frequency has been designed to minimize energy spread for the microbeam production in the JAERI AVF cyclotron. In principle, the amplitude of the fifth-harmonic voltage is $$frac{1}{25}$$ of fundamental one to obtain a uniform energy gain distribution, but in reality the voltage ratio for the optimum flat-top acceleration doesn't correspond to $$frac{1}{25}$$, because an accelerating voltage distribution depends on a radial position and the dee angle. The optimum voltage ratio has been investigated for every accelerating condition by shifting a magnet field from isochronism. The energy spread of 2$$times$$10$$^{-4}$$ can be achieved even in non-isochronous condition by changing an initial beam phase and an outermost trim coil field.

Personnel protection system in J-PARC linac

Hiroki, Fumio; Yoshikawa, Hiroshi; Takeuchi, Yasunori*; Kudo, Kikuo*

Proceedings of 1st Annual Meeting of Particle Accelerator Society of Japan and 29th Linear Accelerator Meeting in Japan, p.159 - 161, 2004/08

The main purpose of Personnel Protection System (PPS) is to protect people from radiation exposure. From the viewpoint of it, important features of the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC) are (1) the beam power as high as 1MW, and (2) a lot of beam-line entrances apart from the main control room. The first feature requires the beam interlock function of PPS to be more reliable than ever. The second one is dealt with the access control function of PPS, with which the remote access control from the central control room is enabled. In this paper, we report the beam interlock and access control functions of the PPS.

Kawase, Masato*; Yoshikawa, Hiroshi; Sakaki, Hironao; Takahashi, Hiroki; Sako, Hiroyuki; Kamiya, Junichiro; Takayanagi, Tomohiro; Hongo, Reiji*

Proceedings of 1st Annual Meeting of Particle Accelerator Society of Japan and 29th Linear Accelerator Meeting in Japan, p.537 - 539, 2004/08

When an interlock occurs in the equipment, it is required to notify the upper rank control system of the Interlock and receive information for apparatus information in the upper rank control system as at high speed as possible. In the apparatus using FA-M3, it can respond to this by using the notice function of an event. This report shows the event notification system with a PLC based Kicker electromagnet power supply for 3GeVRCS.
